How We Met
Cam and I met our junior year of high school in our anatomy class. The long running joke between us is how awful that class was and how long it took him to officially ask me out (about 7 months.. ha) which he says is because he didn’t think a girl like me would go for a guy like him (aw!). We would always talk in class and quickly became best friends. Realizing how much we had in common, there was never a silent moment between the two of us. We both had divorced parents so it was really good to be able to talk to a person who understood. I realized pretty quickly how much I liked him and how good of a guy he was. I could talk to him about anything and he always managed to put a smile on my face during the worst days. He would ask me to go to the movies, mini golfing, carnivals, and dinners but I still wasn’t sure if he liked me like that. It wasn’t until prom towards the end of the year when he asked me to go with him that I realized he liked me as more than a friend. We went and had an absolute blast. He treated me like a princess the entire night and a few days later finally made it official.
how they asked
Anna Maria Island has always been a really special place for the two of us.. It was the place where we first told one another that we loved each other. His parents also used to live near there so it was always fun to go see them and became a place where we could go just to escape from life for a little while and just be together. The first time he took me I remember thinking how just absolutely beautiful it all was and how different it felt from the craziness of Orlando. Whether we would go out on a boat, go to the beach, fish, or walk around the island, it was always the best time and I never wanted to leave. Our favorite thing to do on the island was have dinner at a local restaurant called the Sandbar and watch the sunsets. The sunsets were by far the best part and became our “thing”. Every evening we would have to watch them from the beach. So, when Cam said we should go over the weekend, I was more than excited and didn’t think much of it. He even invited his parents to join (they had recently moved so they hadn’t been back in a while). We pulled up at the Sandbar, got a table outside and began watching as the sun descended. It was going down pretty quick so we figured we would go take some pictures before it set (anyone who knows me knows I LOVE pictures). His dad followed behind us with his camera as we walked toward the water. Cam then stopped and suddenly took my hands and I knew this wasn’t just a basic sunset shoot. He dropped down on one knee and said “Baby, you know I love you more than anything in this world. A lot of changes are coming up for us and I want you there for all of it. Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me.. Be my wife?”. I was so surprised but I couldn’t say yes fast enough! He then put the most gorgeous, perfect ring I could have imagined on my finger, all while the most beautiful sunset I had ever seen was in the background. The whole time I felt like I was in a movie and I couldn’t stop smiling. It was the best, most perfect day of my life and I couldn’t be happier to be marrying the love of my life.
