How We Met

Anthony and I met in June of 2016 in a small town outside of Madrid called Alcala de Henares. I convinced my parents to let me study abroad in Spain. Little did I know how life changing that trip would be. Anthony and I began as friends (all the best couples do). We were both Spanish minors at UTC so a trip to Spain was very beneficial for learning. We had one class together and very soon on I realized that I enjoyed being in his presence. I loved how comfortable he made me feel like I had known him my whole life. He also made me laugh, which is very important in a relationship. He would often come to study with my friend and me and never failed to bring good energy. Our very last night in Spain, he walked my roommate and me back to our host home after a fun night out. I remember calling my mom the next morning and saying “I don’t know, I just have a good feeling about this guy.” My gut was right, we kept in touch once we got back to the states and soon let our chemistry flourish. He soon became my best friend, travel buddy and my rock. I knew he was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

How They Asked

Fast forward two years later- he joined my family in Florida for Thanksgiving in November, and two days later, took me to the Spanish town of St. Augustine to ask me to marry him. We had been ready to take the next step in our relationship, but we had just gotten settled in our own apartments in Atlanta, and money was short with the start of new jobs. I knew that a proposal was further in my future than I hoped. Little did I know what awaited me that night. We walked along the bay waiting for my parents to arrive to get some cute photos of us by the water before dinner. Anthony pulled me in for a hug and started giving me a sweet speech about our love and relationship over the years.

The moment Anthony got down on one knee I completely blacked out. I’ve never cried so many happy tears in my whole life. I didn’t even notice the ring! November 24th, 2018 was the best day of my life. He had my entire family waiting to surprise me after the proposal. He even organized a photographer to capture the special moment, and a carriage ride through the city, followed by dinner with my loved ones. He is truly one of the most caring and selfless guys I’ve ever met. He’s exactly what I’ve prayed for my whole life and I’m so excited to embark on this journey ahead.
