Dave and I begun our friendship back in 2009 when we met for the first time in Berrien Springs MI. After that we had kept in contact over Facebook and through texting but nothing came out of it. After we both had a few failed realtionships we were pushed by our friend to contact each other once again. She had been insisting that we were perfect for each other for years. I decided to to text him once again and to my delight this time it was different. I really liked the person I was talking to. After a few months I decided to drive New York to meet Dave for the second time, but this time I wanted to get to know him better.
I arrived to NY with the worst case of butterflies I had ever had in my life. I was so excited to meet him again, to talk to him and to be around him. Finally when the day came, I went to meet him at his office in the city, where he showed me what he did and begun telling me how much he loved his job. After we went out to walk around the city and do the “touristy” things. It was a wonderful day, I was having the time of my life. Finally close to the afternoon, he told me that we should go to the Top of the Rock for it has the BEST 360 view of the city. I was enchanted for I love Manhattan! We got to the top and there we were, the best view you can imagine with no obstructions in sight. At some point we were holding hands and just taking the sight in, when something magical happen: Dave kissed me right there with Manhattan as our backdrop, a moment never to be forgotten! I was so nervous but loved everymoment.
Once we had come down from the Rockefeller Building I felt like I was floating. He was the man of my dreams, I knew that he was a keeper. I had never been with a man who was so detailed, so sweet, and romatic. We finished our day by taking a lot of pictures and spending time with each other until it was time to go.
From that moment on we were so obssesed with each other. We had to do the long distance thing for a few months. After the summer was coming to a close, I found out that I had been accepted at Kettering College in Ohio. This meant that I was going to move to Ohio to finish my degree. At this same time, Dave’s family bussiness was going through a tough time, and this was the deciding factor that made him search for jobs in Ohio. He was luck to get a job at Kettering Medical Center which is the hospital that runs my school. We were so happy that God had our lives in his hands, guiding our every move.
We have been in Ohio for 2 years and we are so happy that our journey has brought us to where we are today.
how they asked: Every summer for Dave’s birthday we visit his family in Long Island, NY. This was our second summer going to NY so I was not expecting anything to be different.
A few months before hand we had been talking about getting married and everything that goes along with that. He kind of asked me what kind of ring I would like just so he was aware for the future. I kept asking him when we were going to get engaged and he kept saying not any time soon so I should stop asking. I eventually got the hint and in my head that we were not going to get engaged any time soon.
So our trip to NY seemed like any other trip to see his family that we don’t get to see often. Since it was his birthday while we were there he had told me that we were going to have a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant in the city so he wanted to buy me a dress so that I would look nice. Then later he told me that he had told me that he wanted me to get my hair cut and get my nails done in the city before the dinner. Again I did not think any thing was going on because he always always pampers and spoils me. This was not unlike him to buy me dresses or want me to feel and look beautiful. However, he then told me that the reservation had been moved from his birthday to the following thursday because his parents wanted to take us out to dinner. The day came it was on Thursday the 15 th of August, and we took a day trip to Manhattan.
The plan was to just walk around have fun around the city then get my hair cut and nails done at my favorite salon Fekkai on 5ht Ave and then head for dinner. So as we are walking around and he asked me if I wanted to go to the Top of the Rock since we have not have gone back since we had our first kiss two years ago. I was very exited to go back but again I had no idea what was about to happen. We finally make it to the top and it was just breath taking… Dave had been acting funny all day but I did not realize it until he kept refusing get pictures taken of him haha After a while of being up there he started to whisper lovey words in my ear and then he asked me if we were going to be together and in love forever, of course I was like yes forever and he begun to fumble around in his pocket, it was there and right then that I begun to realize what was about to happen. He got down on one knee and I was so shocked! I was so in shock that I gave him my right! I quickly gave him my left hand and jumped into his arms. It was the best moment of my life, with the Empire State building as a backdrop and tons of tourist around us all looking in awee. I kept asking him if it was real life since I swore that we were not getting engaged for a while.
It did not end there. After he proposed I still had an appointment at my favorite salon, there I got my hair cut and styled, make up done and had a manicure and pedicure. We got changed and I put on the dress he got me and he still had an other surprise: he hired a photographer to take our engagement pictures that afternoon.
We met them at the Metropolitan Opera house in Lincoln Center Plaza. The engagement picture came out amazing. Lastly we took a cab to Asiate Restaurant in Columbus circle were we had an amazing dinner as a newly engaged couple. I was so amazing I did not want it to end, it was like a dream come true. Now I get to marry the most amazing, considerate, romantic and handsome man. I am truly lucky!
