How We Met
Nick and I met in high school and have been together ever since! We went to different colleges and he was the most supportive partner you could ever ask for-even when we had to go weeks apart. Sometimes he would even drive all night to see me when I was particularly homesick. Family is so important to both of us, so we are happy to be back together in our hometown of Buffalo, NY. Now, we have been together for almost 9 years and it just keeps getting better. I feel so lucky to be with someone who I essentially grew up with; no one knows me better! Before we got engaged, only thing Nick ever told me about his plans was that I would not wake up that morning expecting it. He was true to his word!
how they asked
This is my new favorite story to tell. On March 6th, 2016, Nick asked me to spend the day with him going our for brunch and shopping. I was excited about this plan, so when my Mom asked me to go ice skating at Buffalo Canalside, She insisted, so we changed our plans and headed to the waterfront with my parents and sisters. When we go there, the ice skating rink was closed and I didn’t even want to get out of the car! My Dad insisted that we take a walk down by the water since it was a beautiful night. When we got to the canal, my family started to pull away from us and Nick grabbed both of my hands and said, “You know how much I love you right?”. I was so surprised I barely believed what was happening, and so ecstatic that I barely heard a word he said! It turns out that it’s alright that I couldn’t remember what he said, because he told me later that he was so nervous and excited that he wasn’t sure what he was saying. I of course said yes! It turned out that Nick had planned the whole outing and had my parents invite me so I wouldn’t suspect a thing. He also asked our friend Mike to capture it all on film. After, he had a surprise dinner planned where his family was waiting to congratulate us. It was a perfect evening.
