How We Met
Chris moved out to Seattle in the Spring of 2017, after completing his nursing degree in Georgia. He set his sights on the beautiful Pacific Northwest, sold a majority of his belongings (except for what he could fit in his car) and made the long journey with his beloved dog, Sophie. I was living in Puyallup, which is about 1 hour south of Seattle, working as a nurse in Intensive Care. Our love story began in November 2017 after meeting on Match.com. I was getting tired of internet dating but thought I would give it one more try. I saw Chris’s profile and knew immediately he looked like a great guy. I sent him a message and thankfully he replied. Our first date was the day after Thanksgiving. We met for an evening of competitive miniature golf. It was instant chemistry right from the start. The night was full of talking, laughter and getting to know one another. It lasted for nearly 8 hours and only ended because the bar was closing. I knew from the first night I had found something truly special and wonderful. And so our love journey began.
How They Asked
After sharing many wonderful adventures together, like weekend road trips, hiking in the PNW, kayaking, and concerts, Chris asked me for the ultimate adventure. We spent a summer day together in July with my three kids enjoying the beautiful PNW. We all went kayaking and then went and had dinner down on Point Ruston in Tacoma. After dinner, we all went down to the waterfront to enjoy the view. My kids knew what was about to happen, as Chris had asked the kids for their blessing. Chris and I ended up sitting on a grassy knoll overlooking the Puget Sound. As we sat there, he pulled out a leather-bound book and handed it to me. It was a beautiful memory book of all our adventures together. Chris had saved keepsakes from our dates, including our first date, and it included hand-drawn pictures and photos from many of our adventures. I finally came to the page saying “there are many, many more adventures to be had, but let’s start with this….” and when I turned the page, he asked me to marry him. And of course, I said yes!
