How We Met
Branden and I met through family. My aunt told me of a local guy whose mom had mentioned he was single and had asked about me. Of course I needed his name so I could scope him out on social media. I sent him a friend request that he accepted. That day, February 1st, 2014 he sent me a private message. After talking and getting to know each other a little better, I finally agreed to go on a date. March 1st, 2014 was the first time we saw each other. He came to my house to meet my parents and pick me up for dinner and a movie. It’s funny how he may not remember what I was wearing yesterday, but somehow he came name everything I was wearing that evening: white pants, navy top, and brown boots. And of course he tells me he remembers seeing the most beautiful woman alive.

The day before, he asked me if I’d like to go to this really nice restaurant on the lakefront, which he knew I loved. I was like, “Umm, YES!” So when the next day came, December 22nd, 2015, naturally in Louisiana it was pouring rain and of course, the restaurant he planned on taking me to was closed that night. I told him we could go and try another restaurant near it. So we did and it was a very beautiful candle lit dinner with delicious food! When we left, we drove closer to the lakefront and the rain had stopped just for a minute. It was dark out and I remember him saying, “I figured it would be lit up for Christmas.” It’s funny how one block over it was a winter wonderland of lights, but the lakefront was pitch black. We drove just a little longer and turned to see one single gazebo lit up with beautiful white lights right on the water. So we got out and walked through a little wet grass and stood in underneath it. We were both looking out at the water with his arm around my waist. He then put his hand on my shoulder and I turned to see him on one knee with the simple and sweet, famous question. “Will you marry me?” And of course, the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen in my life! Of course I said yes! I can’t wait to celebrate our love story on October 29th, 2016!
