How We Met
It all started with a swipe on Tinder in February 2016. What started off as a date in downtown Toronto turned into an unforgettable love story.
Our first date was on March 12, 2016, and to say the least, it was one to remember. Kevin adjusted his tie 5,000 times while I was lost and could not find the location. I’d eventually called Kevin, he asked if I was on the north or south side of Bloor. I had no idea if I was east, west, north, or south. That was a great first impression, no sense of direction, it started off great! Kevin planned a date at the Royal Ontario Museum followed by dinner at Wildfire Steakhouse. After dinner, we were locked from the underground parking garage. This was funny because I made a sensible decision to wear heels that evening.
Four years later we have been on many trips together that include: Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico, Jamaica, Detroit, Boston, Las Vegas, Arizona, and even to his home town in Yonkers, New York.
How They Asked
On July 11, 2020, was a day to remember. The name of the mission was called “Operation Genesis”. You’ll understand the name very soon.
The week leading up to the proposal day, Kevin said his’s friend daughter, named Genesis birthday was on that Saturday (day of the proposal). We were to meet up with them at the Ripley’s Aquarium for 3:00 p.m. We had booked a hotel for the weekend since we were going to be downtown.
Saturday morning, the day of the proposal, we drove around downtown Toronto. Kevin drove by special parts in the city where we shared memories. He drove us to the Royal Ontario Museum (our first date), Distrillary Districts (where we placed a lock for our love). It was special and we reminisced. At around 2:30 p.m he took us to the lake so that he could fly his drone.
From there I saw the heart, roses, candles and the marry me sign. My heart was overjoyed and I said “Aweee someone is going to be proposed to today!” To my surprise, Kevin turns around and pulls me toward the sign, stepped into the heart and he got on one knee. From there everything was a blur, I was a hot, hot, HOT mess! He had my mom, brother, cousin, my best friend, and her sister there. They all wore a t-shirt that said “She said yes”.
It was a beautiful day to have a beautiful proposal and to start a new beginning in our relationship.
A special thanks to my family and best friend Bekah and her sister for helping to make this moment so special for us.
