How We Met
It all started from a Facebook wall post. Yes..Facebook. How every true love story starts. Terry and I went to HS together and I always remembered him treating all of his girlfriends well. Right after high school graduation I broke up with my boyfriend and decided I needed someone in my life that would treat me the way I deserved. One of my friends suggested Terry, and that I should send him a message on Facebook to say hi. Well, I posted it on his wall for EVERYONE to see and we exchanged numbers and the rest is history.
how they asked
We had just got to Vegas for the Route 91 Country Festival Thursday September 28th, 2017. The festival would be starting the following day & we were both extremely excited. We had started unpacking, when Terry said “OMG, did you see that?!” I had not been paying any attention, but he had an engagement ring wrapped up in a T-shirt in his luggage that had rolled out while he was unpacking that he quickly grabbed and threw back inside his bag. I told him I hadn’t seen anything and he looked relived, but stashed his bag in the highest shelf in the hotel closet that I couldn’t reach it. Now I was ITCHING! What was in the bag? Since my birthday was coming up, it could of been anything. Well the night progressed, & I tried not to think about it. But I HAD to ask…what was in the bag? He told me not to worry and of course that is the last thing I was going to do. I kept pressing and pressing, & when we got back to the hotel room after the night had ended, he FINALLY said he would show me. He made me turn around while he shuffled through the bag and asked me to turn back around. He was on one knee, with the ring in his hands and I was in disbelief. I kept saying “this isn’t real right?? That’s a fake ring” etc etc. I started crying (very ugly cries) and was so relived we were able to share this moment in private. I, of course, said yes! We were so excited to celebrate our engagement with some of our close friends while listening to our favorite performers. Soaking up every song and relishing in the moment. Fast forward to Sunday October 1st, the last night of Route 91. We all know how this ended & there’s only one word to describe it. Tragedy. So many highs those past 4 days & so many lows, & truly lucky my Fiancé & I are here today planning our wedding. Nothing will ever be the same (in many ways) and there will forever be a shadow cast on our engagement story. However, the love we had for each other grew from this tragedy & we continue to look forward to the future.
