How We Met
Josh and I met 7 years ago, at a dive bar in Brooklyn. He was out with a friend who spotted my friend from across the bar and wanted to talk to her. The guys bought us drinks, and we all started talking, I wasn’t really looking for anything at the time – I was just trying to be a good wing woman.
Little did I know that was the moment I met my future husband. Our relationship started out pretty casual and I’d often joke to friends in the beginning that it was “nothing serious, we’re just hanging out” but before I knew it, it became the best outcome I didn’t even see coming!
How They Asked
Josh and I love traveling and do one big trip to another country, every year. This year it was South America and two of the most anticipated spots on our itinerary were Machu Picchu and Salar de Uyuni (AKA salts flats in Bolivia). Leading up to the trip, we read blogs and watched videos on those places and I was especially excited for the salt flats because it kept popping up as “one of the must-see places in the world.” We booked a day tour to the flats that ended with watching the sunset with wine and snacks.
Throughout the day, our tour guides were taking pictures and videos of us, so I thought nothing of it when it came time to take pictures with the sunset mirror-image reflection on the salt flats. Josh and I start posing for pictures, as we were all day, then all of a sudden he got down on his knee, showed me the most beautiful ring and asked me to marry him.
I cried (of course!) and literally felt like I was in heaven; it was a beautiful moment in one of the most stunning places my eyes have ever seen. The setting was SO PERFECT and beyond anything I could have ever imagined – I still can’t believe that was MY proposal! <3
