How We Met: We met at the Sigma Chi House during an event they call Derby Days. At this event, the Sigma Chi’s raise money for the Huntsman Cancer Institute by making “date deals” with girls for a derby hat. These derby hats are precious because they are worth points at the end of the week and the Sorority house that has the most hats wins the Derby Days Competition.
Well Justin and I met at that event and talked for a bit but then decided to go down to the 7/11 and get some hot chocolate together.
Well to make a long story short we became best friends and later started dating. Fast forward 2 years and we are now engaged anxiously awaiting getting married.
how they asked: I went out to dinner with some of my Chi Omega sisters I hadn’t caught up with in a while. And yes, they were in on it! At the end, a mysterious car picked me up and took me to the U’s campus where a golf cart was decked out in lights&hearts- the works. My driver, who was a good friend of ours, took me to 6 different locations on campus that each had candles, lanterns, rose pedals, and a note from Justin describing something special about our relationship and why he loves me. At the end, he took me to the football stadium where Justin was waiting.
Justin proposed on the 50 yard line of Rice-Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah- in the exact spot where we had our first kiss over 15 months ago (and that’s a story for another time.) I SAID YES.
Our families were watching from the press box of the stadium, much to my surprise.
After, a group of Sigma Chis sang the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi song to me, complete with roses. My dad and brother were also there to sing to me (IHSV).
