How We Met
In January of 2015, I had gone out to celebrate the birthday of a friend of mine, and after a night of everyone else drinking pretty heavily, my group of girlfriends and I ended up at the apartment of my friend’s cousin and her boyfriend. Her boyfriend had a few of his friends over as well, and as I was sitting in the bathroom, taking off my make-up, brushing my teeth, getting ready for bed, etc., I notice this guy leaning against the door frame watching me.
He begins to talk to me, and even though I seem disinterested, he is persistent in his attempts to strike up a conversation. After a series of unfortunate events, a group of four of us ended up at a hotel for the night, with Will footing the bill. I felt horrid and swore to pay him back as soon as I could, to which he responded, “You don’t have to pay me back if you go out on a date with me.” SMOOTH. I ended up going to watch the Super Bowl with him the following day, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
how they asked
Life is full of twists and turns. It tests us, and brings us hard times and triumphs, and after almost two and a half years, and being through so much together, Will and I departed for a short trip to Austin, Texas to rest and recharge. Getting back to the basics of he and I, and just enjoying each other’s love and company was our main focus. May 8th, 2017, we departed our hotel to head toward Mayfield Park, about 25 minutes outside downtown Austin. We met up with Adam, our photographer, who was going to take some couples pictures for us, so we had some nice, professional photos to put up in our home…or so I thought. During our photo session, under a beautiful stone archway, the lighting became absolutely perfect, and Adam asked me to do a pose where I looked over my shoulder at Will.
He had me do the pose multiple times, and the third time, Will grabbed my hand and pulled me toward him. He recited a quote from my favorite TV Show growing up, One Tree Hill, and spoke of life and second chances, stating how thankful he was that we had ours. Next he spoke of the turning point in the relationship of two main characters: Nathan Scott and Haley James. The were the definition of “couple goals” of r every mid to late 2000’s teen. In season one, Haley id tutoring Nathan and he puts a bracelet out of a cracker jack box stating “Don’t say I never gave you anything.” Will also had a cracker jack box, but inside mine, was a dark maroon, velvet box.
The box that his father used to hold the ring when he proposed to his mother. And inside this box, was the most beautiful engagement ring I have ever seen. The moment was beautiful, surreal, and everything I could have ever hoped for. I wanted to do nothing more than relive it over, and thankfully, due to the extensive planning of my amazing fiancé, and the above and beyond skills of our wonderful photographer, I have the most amazing video documenting one of the best moments of my life. I am so blessed to have not only an amazing husband forever, but to have an amazing video of the moment our lives changed forever.
