How We Met
Steve and I grew up together in a small town. We joined friend groups freshman year of high school, I had my eye on the prize since day one. “That day” happened to be at one of my favorite places on earth, the place I call camp. It was a summer night when we were 14 that we snuck out of camp with a few friends to run down to the beach together. By the end of the night I had my first kiss ever from my biggest crush. It was 2 years later that he asked me to be his girlfriend under the stars at camp. We have now spent every milestone of our lives together ever since.
how they asked
As we were thinking about the best way to spend our 10th year anniversary together, we decided what better way than taking the full week off of our busy lives to spend at camp. During that week, many of our friends and family that we cherish so much came to spend the day sipping some cocktails on the beach. I was looking forward to the last beach day the whole week knowing Steve’s family and my sister were finally arriving. That night, Steve and I got birthday surprises (not really.. this was Steve’s planned proposal).
We were heading to a chartered sail boat with both sets of parents the next morning to explore camp from a different perspective, on the water. We pull up to a small island and drop the anchor to enjoy the view with a cheese platter and mimosa in hand. Steve and I take a walk up to the bow to capture the moment by a picture. As I approach him, he gets down on his knee as our mom’s snap pictures and video’s of the best moment in our lives so far.
Little did I know, that was not the only surprise of the day. I walked into the restaurant at the marina to be greeted by our closest family to share the celebration with us.
This was followed by a toast on the beach, sunset pictures, and a lot of laughs and unforgettable memories back at camp before the night came to an end.
