Sarah and Spencer

Proposal Ideas new wilmington, pennsylvania I met Spencer at while attending Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. Westminster College is a Liberal Arts school in a tiny Pennsylvania town, right in the middle of Amish Country. Little did I know, Spencer’s hometown was about 20 minutes away from mine, just outside of Cleveland. Our High Schools had played sports against each other and I couldn’t help but wonder how many times we might have ran into each other.

The summer going into my senior year of college, Spencer and I became friends, and we wound up talking for hours on end about our lives. Spencer and I just “clicked”. I could tell him anything and everything. Our relationship grew from there, and I was soon falling in love with my best friend. We made our relationship official on October 13, 2012.

Spencer is and has been an absolute blessing to me. He has been there for me throughout my mom’s battle with breast cancer, and always finds a way to put a smile on my face.

Two years later, we have both graduated from Westminster, have a home just outside of Cleveland, Ohio, and Macy… our brand new fur baby!

The Friday before Spencer’s college graduation, the septic system in our home completely broke. With his graduation the next day, both of our parents were coming into town and my Mom had planned to spend that Friday with us, celebrating his graduation. She was gracious enough to book Spencer and I a room in the same hotel that she was staying in. That night, the three of us enjoyed hibachi and got to spend some quality time together. The next morning, we were off to Spencer’s graduation. My Mom and I met up with Spencer’s parents, sister and brother, whom had made the long drive from Wisconsin. I was so glad to see them! Spencer’s sister, Cassie already knew the extra plans for the day, but I was still clueless. Our families were able to attend Spencer’s baccalaureate, and got lunch together at the cutest little coffee shop in town.

Unfortunately, my Mom wasn’t able to stay to watch Spencer’s graduation due to a business trip in Chicago. I said goodbye to her and headed to the graduation ceremony with Spencer’s family. The weather that day was chilly, and it was raining on and off, so the ceremony was indoors. I was so grateful to be sitting with Spencer’s family, watching the love of my life receive his diploma. I sat next to Spencer’s Mom, not knowing that my ring was hidden in her purse the whole time.

After his graduation, we decided to walk down to the lake on campus to take pictures of everyone with the new graduate! Spencer’s family went first to take pictures with him, then his best friend and his family. I was last! His brother snapped a picture of Spencer and I, with him still in his cap and gown. While I was standing on the dock next to Spencer, he mentioned that he wanted a picture with the two of us, without his cap and gown on. I waited on the dock while he went to give his cap and gown to his Mom. Spencer walked back to me, ring box in hand, got down on one knee and told me how much he loved me and wanted me to be his wife. Through tears I managed to say yes , and could only squeeze him as hard as I could as he lifted me into the air.

I was so honored that Spencer decided to share his graduation day with such a special moment in our lives. I can’t wait to marry him!howheasked
