How We Met
Landis and I met the 21st century way…on the dating app Hinge, although we both did not swipe right. He swiped right on me but my friends were actually the ones using my app at the time and swiped right on him. I obviously thought he was attractive and he messaged me right away. After a couple weeks of back and forth banter (I still don’t remember what we said) he asked me to meet him at a bar in downtown San Francisco called The Barrel Room. I ended up being 15 minutes late due to traffic and he was already one dirty martini deep but it was an instant connection.
How They Asked
Landis is a real estate developer and had just finished a condo building in Nob Hill, San Francisco. He told me that his friends wanted to get a tour of the building and said we would bring wine to the roof top to enjoy the views. He popped the question to me with the city scape of San Francisco in the background. After the surprise, I turned the corner and our families and friends were there to celebrate with us. The proposal was actually supposed to happen back in March and my family and friends were going to be at The Barrel Room (where we had our first date) waiting for us. However, due to COVID Landis had to push the engagement back and figure out a plan B. It couldn’t have been more perfect.
