How We Met
It’s a funny story about how we met. I was in college and it was Halloween weekend. I had an exam coming up and I figured I would study instead of going out with my friends. They convinced me to go out and that’s when I met Justin, a friend of another friend. I was totally not interested but hung out with him through the night and he was nice enough to hold my keys since I didn’t have my purse and made sure I got home safely. After that night, I figured I would never see him again. But he got my number and continuously texted me and wanted to take me out on a real date. Me being focused on school didn’t want to but once again, my friends convinced that he was such a nice and great guy to give him a chance. And boy was I happy that I did! One date turned into two, then three, and so on.
My favorite story of us is the date I knew I fell in love with him. Long story short, I seriously have a huge sweet tooth! I love candy and sweets more than anything. It was super late one night and I told him I was craving some cookie dough to eat. I know it’s bad to eat, but who doesn’t eat it?! He drove over an hour to my college and picked me up and took me to the nearest grocery store. I stared at the cookies for some time trying to decide what kind I wanted. He laughed at me for making it look like a hard decision to do. So I asked his opinion, should I get a chocolate chip or sugar cookie dough? And his response, both! As weird as it is, I realized at that moment that how unpredictable all our times were together and how I always looked forward to spending time with him. He always knows how to make me smile and always makes things so much better than they are already are. I don’t know how I got so lucky to be with an amazing guy!
How They Asked
I have no idea how a year has already past! One year ago September 1, I said yes to forever with my best friend! We moved from a big city, Pittsburgh, to a small little town in the mountains in Tennessee. My parents were in town visiting and we wanted to show them our new home. We rented a boat on Watauga lake which is in the middle of the mountains. The views are incredible! We pulled off into a cove to eat some lunch and he told me to turn around and he would take a picture of me looking at the mountains and the lake.
I was excited because he never suggests taking photos! So I turned around and sure enough, when I turned back around, he was on one knee!! ? (Shout out to his favorite show duck dynasty for giving him that idea, lol.) I said yes right away and cried especially when I found out he had the ring made using his grandma’s diamond.
It was only fitting that we got our engagement photos also in the mountains to show everyone back home our new home where we are going to start our lives as Mr. & Mrs.!
