Sarah and EJ
How We Met
We met back in July of 2014…..online! Our first date was at District of Pi in Washington, DC where shared a deep dish pizza. The date was going so well, we went to a bar to grab drinks after! Followed by a second date next day (we watched 22 Jump Street), and a third date the next next day where we went hiking at Billy Goat Trail (more like rock climbing!)
how they asked
We like to take random weekend trips to NYC. We decided last year (2017) to take a NYC trip in the winter to see and experience all of the holiday decor and festivities. We arrived in NYC on Saturday via Greyhound bus (funny story–we almost didn’t go because our bus never arrived and Greyhound had to reroute a Boston bus to stop on the GW bridge!).
Saturday evening we walked around and saw all of the holiday lights and decor around Rockefeller. Sunday morning, I (Sarah) was planning on standing in line early at the TKTS booth to get Broadway show tickets, followed by brunch near Times Square. EJ was very insistent on first getting brunch near Central Park, followed by the TKTS booth. This didn’t make sense to me because we would be late for the TKTS booth opening! However, EJ stood his ground (he normally lets me plan whatever on trips, which made me very suspicious).
We ate at The Smith for brunch. Afterward, EJ really wanted to walk to Central Park to show me a nice view of the city (again, very suspicious). On the way there, we came across a super cute holiday market – of course, I wanted to stop and shop. EJ kept rushing me, which was super weird (again, very suspicious). We finally walked around Central Park to the Gapstow Bridge, where he proposed! It’s so funny thinking about it because when we first arrived at the bridge, I asked this lady to take our picture – this lady ended up being a secret photographer who captured our engagement moment!
EJ, my sister, and my best friend set up a photographer to snap some shots. EJ explained after all of this, that he kept rushing me because the photographer had been waiting in the cold for at least an hour!
