How We Met
Dan and I met first in undergrad at Colorado State University (Go Rams!) but it was not until the spring of 2016, after we had both graduated and were living in Houston, Texas, that we went on our first date. A mutual friend of ours from CSU had moved to Houston for work, and Daniel invited us both over to his parents’ house for one of their infamous “Sunday Suppers.”
The rest is pretty much history! I moved from Houston to College Station, Texas in August of 2016 to start veterinary school and Daniel has been my rock through it all. I graduated from school in May of 2020 and we will get married that month as well!
How They Asked
On the weekend of April 6, 2019, Daniel pulled off a complete surprise proposal. I was spending the weekend in Port O’ Conner with friends and Dan was in Austin at a bachelor party (or so I thought). On Saturday morning, after stopping into a cute boutique to do some shopping, my friends and I meandered down to the beach where there was a long fishing pier.
I was under the impression that we were walking out to the end of the pier to take some group photos, so with my friends alongside me I obliviously made my way down the long pier. Daniel, of course, was waiting at the end of it, but it wasn’t until I was about 10 feet in front of him (I seriously could have poked him, I was so close) that I even recognized him.
Of course, at this point, I caught on to what was happening, started crying, and my answer to Dan’s question was YES. One of my friends got the entire proposal on video, it’s just not posted to vimeo or youtube. But definitely a video we will cherish forever.
