How We Met
A year and a half before Clint and I started dating, we were both at my brother in law’s house. This is the day we met. I was there to spend some time with my sister, Whitney, and he was there to spend some time with her boyfriend at the time, also his best friend, Conrad. That night, we were all hanging out and picking on each other. Clint and I were picking on each other, anyway. To be silly, I acted like I was going to flip him backwards off of his computer chair and then he actually did end up falling over.
I stole his number from Conrad’s phone and then on and off we talked to each other for about a year and a half until things got serious. We started officially dating on April 27th, 2014.
how they asked
The day he proposed was February 11th, 2017. That afternoon, we were getting ready to go to town to have taco night with my parents. Clint told me that he wanted to stop by Lake Petenwell in Nekoosa, Wisconsin to see how much the lake had opened up for fishing.
I didn’t want to go, so Clint told me that he’d buy me Dairy Queen after we were done at the lake. Of course I went! We got to a patch of woods on Lake Petenwell and I got out of the truck to go look at the lake. It was beautiful and white with snow and ice.
I was standing only a few feet from the water when I turned to say something to Clint. Clint had the ring box in his hand with a huge grin on his face. It was the “Ever Us” ring box. I smiled at him and said, “What is that?” He just stood there and smiled and said, “What do you think it is?” I said, “No way! No way! Is this a joke? No way!” I was so happy!
He opened the box and put the ring on my finger with a smile bigger than the universe. I informed him that even though there was a ring on my finger that we weren’t engaged yet. “What? Why?” “Because you never got down on one knee and asked me to marry you! You can’t assume these things!” So, he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. We will be married on August 11th, 2018.
