Sara and Zach
How We Met
We had the typical college love story. Girl meets boy at sorority/ fraternity halloween mixer senior year at Northeastern University.
Girl is dressed as a Pan Am flight attendant, boy is dressed as Hanson brother.. (not the boy band.. but the 1970’s cult classic) all clad in hockey jersey, blonde hair and thick glasses. Two college graduations later, first jobs, first “real” apartments, two years of long distance (boston > new york), a few accidental break ups (always me.. never him). We finally found our way together in New York City moving into our first apartment together and two years later he proposed!
how they asked
For those who know me they know my obsession and love for my two nephews and have been subjected to hour long slideshows of both Luke (3 years old) and Jack (1 year old). Zach wanted to involve the boys and my family and his family for the proposal. I was under the impression that we were having an early dinner in my parent’s backyard in New Jersey. I was starting to get worried because him and my dad were taking the train back from new york city together and ended up getting stuck and had to take a LYFT home. Perfect timing as the anxiety level was high and the traffic was bad. When they finally got home I noticed Zach wasn’t touching his pizza (which if anyone knows him is a rare occasion), but I had no idea why.
He went inside to “use to the bathroom,” little did I know he was calling his parents to Facetime strategically placing his phone in his breast pocket so they could witness the whole thing. I was playing with Luke when all of a sudden Zach tapped me on the shoulder and when I turned around there he was down on one knee.
My parents popped the prosecco and my sister and brother in law were there to film and take photos.
All while we were celebrating both kids were oblivious to the crying and hugs around them as they were too focused on eating ice cream and pizza.
I could not have asked for a more perfect proposal surrounded by the people I love and the man that I will spend the rest of my life with.
