How We Met
Will and I met our senior year of high school. I was new to the area and we just so happened to be introduced through friends. Fast forward a year and we wound up in the same college freshman English class. From there we developed a friendship. Eventually over the years we continued to get to know each other but nothing serious ever came out of it. We both ended up dating other people throughout the years until we were reunited by a mutual friend several years ago. Will and I began dating and have been inseparable ever since.
how they asked
Will had told me we were invited to his cousin’s couples bridal shower one evening at the DL Loft in Chicago. This was not unusual for his family, as they typically did the bridal showers with both the men and women. It was a Thursday after work and I was exhausted and crabby. I was in no mood to travel downtown. I remember the whole ride there I barely said a word, just wanting to get the night over with. We parked, and I remembered thinking how crazy it was that we were able to get a spot so close to the loft.
He has a large family and I figured parking would be a pain. We walked up the stairs and I didn’t hear any noise coming from the loft, which I also thought was odd but just let it go.
When we opened the door, the whole place was decorated with flowers, candles, pictures of us, champagne, and french macaroons (my favorite) – all set up by one of my best friends (who also happens to be an amazing event planner and blogger). Will got down on one knee and the rest is history!
