How We Met
Taylor and I met on the app Coffee Meets Bagel in August 2016. He was actually my first and only date from that app!
On our first date, we went to the Flying Saucer in Addison, Texas, and laughed over nachos and beer (a tradition we still uphold every year on our anniversary). I was immediately struck by how intently Taylor listened and how genuine he seemed to be. I left that date with a feeling in my gut that he was someone I’d want to hold on to. I still feel that way.
how they asked
On Saturday morning, Taylor woke me up with “Pack a bag. We’re going to the airport at noon.” He didn’t give me any other information, despite my endless questions. Once we got to the airport, he revealed we were on our way to Seattle – the very first place we ever traveled to together.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away. We slept late, wandered through Fremont and our favorite stops in the rainy, beautiful city, and reveled in spending a few days off the grid together.
The highlight of our getaway was on Sunday at Gas Works Park (a spot that’s very special to us and where we spent a lot of time on our first trip to Seattle) when Taylor asked me the easiest question I’ve ever answered.
We’re over-the-moon happy. And the best part is that we get to keep doing life together, forever. Striking gold has a nice ring to it :)
I’m still in awe of the surprise Taylor pulled off to ask me to spend forever with him! I’m super Type A and not easy to surprise since I’m scheduled and planned to a T. We have quite the story to share with our kids one day. One of my favorite parts of the story is Madison: a bystander in Gas Works Park who was kind enough to snap some photos of our proposal. Turns out she’s a photographer. So thankful to have these true candids of Taylor popping the question and me saying yes!
