How We Met
It all started when we were 16 years old and we sat next to each other every single day in study hall. After many small conversations and jokes, Seth decided to message me and asked me to be his prom date. We talked online and on the phone every single night, often talking until we fell asleep. Right before prom, Seth and I went on our first date to a coffee shop where he asked me to be his girlfriend. The next couple of years were spent finishing up high school and starting college together at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Post-college we moved in together and lived together at several apartments. 10 years later and I am engaged to my high school and college sweetheart.
How They Asked
My fiancè proposed to me on Christmas Eve 2018. We were at my parents’ house where we’ve spent the holidays together for the past decade, a perfect setting for our happily ever after a moment to take place. I left for lunch that day with one of my childhood best friends and when I returned I experienced the best surprise I could have ever imagined. My family and his family turned my parent’s home into a winter wonderland in a matter of hours. When I arrived at my parent’s house, I opened the door and at that moment I knew what was about to happen.
There was a pathway of lights from the front door through the house that led to the backyard where it formed a heart around him. As I walked outside, I saw my fiancè in the middle of the backyard where he stood with our families. Those who were not there were videoing in. I looked around and I saw white Christmas lights strung above.
I looked to my left and there were a white Christmas tree and a photographer and to my right, there was a fire pit and a musician playing our favorite song that will be our first dance as husband and wife. Time froze and he got down on one knee and made me the luckiest girl in the world. It was one of the best moments of my life! I’m so excited to marry my best friend!
