How We Met

Greg and I went to the same Alma Matar (Claremont McKenna), albeit didn’t cross paths with one another until after I graduated as he was receiving a one-year Masters in Finance after graduating from UCLA early and I was a freshman. Greg and I ended up working at the same investment bank where we became fast friends, working closely together on various projects and eating lunch together daily!

It was not until several months after I left the firm to join a private equity firm that we decided to begin dating. Funny enough, just as we started to date, we ended up working together again. The firm I worked at hired Greg’s team to sell one of our portfolio companies and we both serendipitously ended up working on the project. It was great fun being his “boss” this go around :)

How They Asked

Greg and I planned a weekend getaway in Santa Barbara as a mini-vacation from Los Angeles where we spent the overwhelming majority of the locked down. After returning from my Saturday 18 mile long run (I’m an avid marathon runner, having run in the Olympic Trials in Feb 2020), Greg informed me he changed our dinner reservations from 6:45 to 7:15 so the restaurant (Caruso’s located on the Rosewood property) could accommodate a better table. That afternoon I received a call to confirm 8 pm reservations to which I reminded the restaurant they were at 7:15 per my boyfriend’s earlier request.

After spending the day at the pool we grab a cocktail and enjoy the live music at the bar. We then headed down to the beach for a brief beach walk prior to what I assumed was our 7:15 pm dinner reservations. We walked a little when Greg stopped in his tracks and called my name. I turned around and there he was down on one knee asking me to be his wife. I cried joyous tears and said YES! After we embrace, we look up and saw everyone in the restaurant applauding. Our photographer brought us champagne, we took photos on the beach and property, and FaceTimed family to inform them of the incredible news! Turns out Greg had actually changed the dinner reservations to 8 so we had ample time to enjoy the moment after! It was absolutely perfect.
