How We Met

Cody and I met in 2012 on my first day at my first office job. I had spent a year and a half after college applying for jobs and FINALLY found one in September 2012. On my first day there, my boss took me around to introduce me to everyone and when I was introduced to Cody, an alarm went off in my head. He shook my hand and smiled and the rest was history – hello, dimples!

For a good 3 months, we flirted back and forth via Skype and when we passed each other in the office and finally in December of 2012 started seeing each other. We kept it pretty quiet as we worked at a small company but word started to get out after a year of us dating. Luckily, they were all super supportive and couldn’t believe we kept it a secret for so long!

We both moved on from that company since then but our jobs there will always have such fond memories for us – I mean, what are the ODDS that I finally find a job and, at the same time, find my future husband?

How They Asked

I traveled a lot in the role I took after I left the company we both worked for and in September of 2017, I was going to be in Europe for a week. Cody decided to meet me out there at the end of my work trip and we decided to take the train down to spend a few days in Paris with my best friend from Germany. Little did I know that while planning the trip, Cody was planning with Anna, my friend from Germany, to surprise me with a proposal. He figured why the heck NOT propose in Paris.

I had NO idea and I had even talked myself out of even fantasizing over the possibility that he’d do it in Paris so when we were taking photos in the gardens outside of the Lourve (the Tuileries Garden) and he suddenly held a ring box in front of me, I was beyond shocked. He asked “wanna get married?” in such a casual way that the first thing that popped out of my mouth was a threat. I looked at him and said, “If this is a joke, I will f**king kill you.”

Yep, I swore at him. Classy, right? He opened the ring box to prove it was NOT a joke and it hit me that he was REALLY proposing in PARIS! As we came back down to earth, I spotted Anna opening up a bottle of champagne to celebrate. They had the champagne and ring hidden in her backpack the entire time!
