How We Met
Chad and I met after some interesting circumstances. It was the end of his sophomore year and my freshman year of high school. We were only 14 & 15 at the time, and he stuck up for me when some of his friends were playing stupid-high-school-pranks on me. I had a boyfriend at the time, but that didn’t seem to stop him. He later told me that from the first moment he saw me, halfway across the school cafeteria, that he made it his mission to be my boyfriend. He felt, deep down, that he was going to marry me one day. Cheesy, I know, but he swears it’s true. Fast forward almost eight years later, and here we are! Still going strong.
how they asked
This was our second trip to Bermuda. We fell in love with the island, and just had to keep coming back for more. We took a cruise, so on our very first day docking during this trip we had ventured to Horseshoe Bay with his family. Twenty or thirty minutes into laying on the beach, Chad comes to me and asks if I want to climb to the top of one of the cliffs to take a picture together. Now, Chad is not one to ask to take pictures, or want photos taken ever, and me, being a photographer ALWAYS wants to take pictures. So, when he said this I jumped straight up, no questions asked, and began climbing. This was a cliff that the family had previously been jumping off of, so I thought nothing of them climbing up with us to jump.
His sister’s husband had brought his SLR camera and agreed to take our picture, I didn’t even think it was weird when his sister was also carrying two GoPros. Now looking back, I probably should have thought something fishy was going on, but I was totally oblivious. It couldn’t have worked more perfectly either, because I, being the typical girl I am, walked to the edge of the cliff, and took one of those typical back-to-the-camera-arms-in-the-air photos. Little did I know, when I turned around, my best friend was going to be down on one knee, asking me to spend forever with him.
