How We Met
Austyn and I have gone to school together since Kindergarten, but never really got to know each other. He came back to our hometown for leave from the Army and we planned to hang out. I drove over to his house, he got in the car, and said: “can I kiss you already?” At that moment, I absolutely knew he was the one. With his deployment to South Korea in the following months, our relationship remained strong and although it was one of the hardest things I’ve gone through, I’d do it all over again for him!
how they asked
As an active member of the US Army, Austyn was able to come home to spend Labor Day weekend at his family’s cabin. It was raining nonstop, but suddenly cleared up later in the afternoon when we decided to go out on the boat. We ended up at a small island in the middle of the lake and climbed up to a cliff.
Austyn’s sister had her camera for what she told me was “a school project” so he asked her to take some pictures of us. He told me he wanted to take a Titanic picture and I quickly told him I thought it was dumb, but turned to face the water anyway. When I turned back around, he was down on one knee and I absolutely was not expecting it, but was so happy he made sure his sister was there to capture such a perfect moment! I am so very excited to share the rest of my life with this man!
