How We Met
Chris and I met in nursing school and were in the same clinical group. At the time we were both in relationships, and we were just friends. When we both became available, we started hanging out and studying together more. Eventually, Chris asked me to see a movie – I had no idea he intended for it to be a date, and I invited another friend to come.
Luckily, that friend had to cancel, and Chris and I ended up going to dinner. After he insisted on paying for dinner, I started to get a little suspicious. I called my sister from my car on the way home, and told her “I think I might be on a date!” Later that night, Chris kissed me. Even though I was a little hesitant at first, I think I knew then, that Chris was the man I was meant to marry.
How They Asked
I knew I wanted to marry Chris early on, and I probably pestered him a little too much, dropping not-so-subtle hints. I thought so many times “this could be it,” whether it was on vacations or special events. Finally, there came a time where I stopped trying to over-analyze and let it happen. It paid off! Halloween is a big holiday in my family – basically, it’s like Christmas to us. We have a party, and we all dress up. I was unable to travel home this year, and Chris knew I was bummed. We are big Disney fans, so he planned on taking me to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party so that we could have some Halloween-themed fun. I mentioned wanting to take some pictures at various locations throughout the park, and Chris quickly agreed that it would be a good idea.
I was immediately suspicious because he hates taking pictures! I didn’t want to get my hopes up – not even when he bought a polo to match my outfit – but I got my nails done just in case. We took our pictures, and Chris mentioned wanting to find Cinderella’s Wishing-well, which we had never seen.
Well, the Wishing-well was closed! I could tell Chris was getting nervous, we kept walking in circles. Later, I found out Chris was texting our mom’s because he was supposed to propose at the well! We ended up in front of the castle, with a Disney photographer ready to snap a shot of us. That’s where Chris got down on one knee! Everyone clapped and cheered, and it was better than any proposal I had ever imagined!
My surprise didn’t end there, though, both of our families joined us at the park! My family flew from Pennsylvania to be there, and it was my grandparents’ first time at Disney. I would have never expected them to all be there and was so thankful Chris had thought to invite them. We got to celebrate our engagement and Halloween with the people who mean the most to us. It really was magical!
