How We Met
Mike and I met at Fenway Park three and a half years ago. I was at the game with my friend and he was working at the park at the time. My friend and I got separated around the 8th inning so I went looking for her. While I was searching for my friend I decided to approach a group of about five employees who were standing by the gate entrance. I asked if they had seen my friend, (a Friday night game is very crowded so my chances of them recognizing her were very slim). Mike was one of the employees at the gate, he offered to help me look for her and we started talking. We soon exchanged numbers and I went on my way to look for my friend. (Who I eventually found). :) The next day he texted me asking if I found my friend and if she was okay. We quickly started talking more and more and began to hang out regularly.
A little backstory about myself, I was born in Boston MA but moved to Orange County, California when I was 5 years old with my family. Mike was in a rotational program when we met and he quickly told me that in one year he would be moving to Carlsbad, California for a year-long job. (Carlsbad is only about 30 minutes south of Orange County). What are the odds!? We knew that if we continued to hang out we would only get more attached which would make the following year extremely difficult. After a lot of thinking, we decided to give our relationship a shot. We had a great year together, which quickly came and went. Mike moved to California and I was finishing my senior year of college at Fitchburg State University. The long distance was not easy, but we did learn so much about ourselves and each other.
In May 2017 I graduated from college and then packed my bags and followed back to California for the summer while he was finishing his job. We had a great summer finally being back together and getting a little sneak peek into what life will now be like…living together! We decided to move back to Boston and move in together! By that September we were back home together!
How They Asked
December 30th, 2018 was the best day of our lives. We were meeting friends at a restaurant by Fenway, when Mike mentioned his friend was working and he would let us in to see the Park (it was a Sunday, so the park was empty). I agreed, and we walked over to the park. We then proceeded to make our way to the Green Monster. I have never been up there, so it was incredible to see the view. A few moments later, Mike got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
We got to take pictures all around the park, including the exact spot where our paths first crossed. It was a day we will always remember! We both love the Red Sox and going to as many games as we can during the season. So Fenway has a special place in our hearts not only because we both love the game but also because this is where our story began!
