How We Met
Michael and I met at an ugly sweater party. I left before he could ask for my number so he slid in my DMs on Instagram. I was seeing someone that I wasn’t particularly fond of at the time so I replied with a very smooth, “brb”. 2 months later I was single and hoping to go on a date with Michael. I was walking home from the shops thinking of what I should say when I got a notification, Michael had sent me a meme 😂. The rest is history.
How They Asked
We were in Hawaii on vacation and we went to Waimea Canyon in Kauai and did a strenuous, muddy hike to the edge of the cliffs, it was absolutely stunning! Michael was being a total weirdo and kept procrastinating going back to the car. He was asking if I got a picture of everything and kept moving us around to different viewpoints. Turns out he was waiting for someone to come along so they could capture the big moment.
Finally, just as I was ready to make sure Michael wasn’t totally losing it, someone came along and he asked him to take our photo. We went out to one of the cliffs, which is also funny because Michael is afraid of heights, we took a picture and then Michael suddenly got one knee and started to ask me to marry him :). It was absolutely perfect! I had to hike holding my hand up back to the car so I didn’t get mud on my new ring 😂 but I succeeded and we got to get engaged in the most magical place.
