How We Met
Kevin and I met through a mutual friend at a Halloween party two and a half years ago. I had just recently gotten out of a long term relationship and wanted to go out and have a good time. I was dressed as a skeleton with my face completely painted and he was in a full bear suit. We instantly clicked and when I went home I told my mom, “I think I might have found the man I’m going to marry”. 2 years of long-distance later, I have moved to New York City to be with him. We also got a puppy named Milo!
How They Asked
We recently decided to do something fun and adventurous and surprise each other once every few months with trips. One person plans everything without telling the other. They are just told what they need to pack.
Kevin picked me up after work and would not let me see the GPS the WHOLE drive to our destination. When we arrived the resort looked like it was out of a fairytale. We had dinner and the next day he had lots of activities planned. We did yoga, went hiking and even ice skated in a rink by ourselves. It was so romantic. Later that day, Kevin told me he wanted to fly his drone to capture the “golden hour”. He always has me “model” for him when he is filming so I thought nothing of it when he asked me to walk out on a secluded dock for the drone shot. He had me walk back and forth a few times to get the right video and on my final walk back, I turned around and he was down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was truly the happiest moment of my life.
After the proposal, Kevin had a bottle of champagne waiting in our room and showed me the video that he had created for me as a surprise engagement gift. He compiled all of our memories and travels together even down to the engagement shoot. It was the sweetest most thoughtful gift I had ever received.
