how we met
We met Sam’s freshman year of high school in Japanese class. Derrick likes to tell people we had “chemistry” together because we became fast friends in our chem class.
how they asked
We got engaged two days before Sam’s birthday and it was a surprise for her and all of our friends. Derrick planned a surprise birthday dinner for Sam with all of our closest friends and orchestrated a whole weekend of surprises so she was thrown off. It started with a surprise birthday brunch that only a couple of people came to (which was supposed to throw her off), surprise brunch and nails with her friends the next day, and a surprise dinner at a nice restaurant. Derrick also had his parents come to dinner and it was a really fun moment when all of our friends realized what was happening. Sam cried hysterically the entire time.
