how they asked: Dan and I were living in Tucson when I went home to San Francisco for a visit, he was getting ready to move to England for his job and I was unsure of where our relationship was going (needless to say this trip home was much needed). My friend Andrea and I love to go wine tasting and living so close to wine country we have made it our regular activity.
We often stop at a particular winery in Sonoma that has become a favorite of ours. After our tasting we decided to have lunch there while enjoying a glass of wine. It was a Saturday afternoon and the winery had a Tenor group going around to tables singing to people.
They soon found their way to our table and started to sing. Out of nowhere a magnunm bottle of wine was presented to me and someone saying “This is for you, go ahead and read it.”
I was unsure of what was happen but quickly recognized the hand writing that was scribbled on the back. It was a love poem…from Dan. I began to cry as I read such sweet words.
Once I read the last line “Sally, will you marry me?” Dan appeared by my side grabbing my hand and getting down on one knee. I was shaking, he was shaking as he told me he couldn’t live without me and that he wanted to give me the world.
He then asked “Will you marry me?” I said yes, wrapping my arms around him and kissing my future husband.
I heard clapping and cheering realizing there had been a crowd of over 100 witnessing what had just happened. BEST. DAY. EVER.
