I met Jon on October 24th 2012, and I know it sounds cheesy, but I truly knew my life was never going to be the same. We were both in the process of finishing our undergrad at University of South Florida in Tampa, FL when we both ended up at the same volunteer meeting for American Red Cross. When we finally made it “official”, we never spent a day apart. When I was diagnosed with my Pituitary Brain Tumor in August of 2013, he stood by my side every step of the way. He has been my full support system, loving me in the darkest of times and pushing me to be the greatest person I can be. We graduated from USF together in May of 2014 and both got accepted to Florida State University to start our Master Degrees. We now live in Tallahassee, FL as full time professional students.
How he planned: Jon actually went and asked my father’s permission for my hand in marriage, leaving me clueless with no idea of the secret plans. The fact that he went and asked my father to marry me shows me that not only does he care about me, but also my family. Putting family values and traditions above all else.
how they asked: On December 19th 2014, we went to Disney’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom in Orlando, FL to celebrate Jon’s 23rd birthday …or so I thought. It was a wonderful night filled with endless smiles and laughter. After we went on a few rides and watched the main show, he then asked to go take a photo in from of the castle, which I excitedly obliged. When I turned to my right and saw him down on his knee I couldn’t even muster words. He said “I love you Sabrina Smith, and I want to spend the rest of my life falling in love with you over and over again, will you marry me?” I was so shocked, crying and shaking, barely able to whisper the words, “Yes, Yes, Yes”.
