How We Met
We met in a class of our small, private college as we shared the exact same major and minor. I realized through Facebook stalking that we had incredibly similar interests, and he was incredibly cute and funny. Being the scholarly woman that I am, I thoroughly enjoyed school and the challenges that it presented; but I needed a reason to ask for his number so I asked him to help me with a paper. He had me put my number in his phone, but we were both so nervous that neither of us noticed he forgot to give me his number. He didn’t text me that weekend, so I had to bluntly ask him for his number the next class we shared. I never let him live down that I asked for his number twice!
how they asked
Since we met at our college, had our first date at the college, shared our first kiss at the college, AND first said our “I love you”s at the college, he figured it was only right to begin our lives together there, as well. We had a date to spend the day in the big city neighboring the town, but he asked me to meet him at our alma mater. I truly didn’t believe he was going to propose as he is terrible at keeping secrets. I got there first, and I had to use the bathroom since I had just driven an hour and a half to get there, so I got out of my car and tried to find an open office building, but they were all closed for the summer. I tried to call him, but he drove around the corner at that moment so I hung up. He pulled up next to where I was standing on the curb and opens his car door. But I had to pee, so I yelled, “No! Don’t have time! I gotta go!” And I jumped in the passenger seat. The look on his face was of pure shock as I had just thrown off his plans and he had no idea how to correct. He silently starts to drive off of the campus, but suddenly he stopped and see the box-sgaped bulge in his pocket. I asked him what that was, and he pulls out a black, shiny box. He said, “Will you marry me?” and then he continued, laughing, “Even though you ruined my proposal and I can’t get down on one knee?” I couldn’t believe my eyes, I was so happy and in such a state of shock. He proposed to me in his truck, beside the bell tower of our alma mater where we met and fell in love.
