How We Met
Saif and I met on a dating app and after speaking to him a couple of times, I instantly knew he was the one. We met up a few months later and ever since then we were inseparable. Until COVID-19 happened. I live in New Jersey and he lives in Texas. Our long-distance relationship didn’t feel like one until we couldn’t see each other for months.
I am a nurse in New Jersey and I couldn’t risk exposing him to the virus so we decided to not see each other even once the numbers started to go down. My exposure to the virus was higher because of working in an ICU. So in order to protect ourselves and our loved ones, we made this sacrifice.
How They Asked
Saif was supposed to propose a while ago, he had everything planned and he had to cancel it (around the same time my bridesmaid dinner was supposed to be). I couldn’t visit him in Texas because I was working and I would have to self-quarantine once I got there. And we didn’t think it was safe for Saif to travel by air and come to a hotspot. My ring has been ready for about 2 months. He couldn’t wait anymore. I never thought I would have a virtual proposal, but my sweet, small-town country boy made it SO special. One thing I learned throughout this pandemic is that the only thing I care about is being your wife and spending the rest of my life with my best friend.
