How We Met
Matt and I were introduced by a mutual friend in our freshman year of high school. We both ran track and field in the spring season for our school. He was always so mischievous, a true a child at heart. His face would always blush and turn red whenever he would speak to me. Here was this shy yet strong football player (his main sport, mine was soccer), who charmed his way into my life. We love sports, it is something we both thoroughly enjoy. We were always at one another’s games/events cheering one another on. On December 6th, 2008 Matt asked me to be his girlfriend. He was my first boyfriend ever! Little did I know that 11 years later I would be marrying my first love.
How They Asked
Matt and I decided to take a trip to Ireland; it was a vacation we had been dreaming about for a few years now. It was there, in Ireland, that the man of my dreams would propose to me. On May 8th, 2019 we took a trip to The Cliffs of Moher. We were taken to an extremely private part of the cliffs where there was not a single soul around! As we walked towards the edge of the cliff, the photographer he hired to do a couple’s photoshoot kept repeating “this is the money shot, yup this is the money shot.” Matt automatically starts laughing and squirming. I gave him this serious yet funny side-eye glare and mumbled under my breath “stop moving.” When he finally stopped fidgeting, he pulled out this little black box from his pocket.
At this point, I’m cheesing from ear to ear. Matt got down on one knee and just froze. He did not say a word for a few moments, his eyes tearing. I could tell he was nervous. It reminded me of when we were young teenagers; how he would blush when speaking to me. We couldn’t stop smiling and were so overcome with happiness after he popped the question.
