How We Met: A basement frat party may not have been in the most fancy or romantic setting, but it was a special moment nonetheless. It was the start of the second semester of our junior year in college and my fraternity was having a rush party. A close friend of Alexa’s suggested she come and mentioned that there was one guy in particular she had to meet, as it turns out that was me. Apparently, when Alexa walked in she liked what she saw (unsurprising…jk). When I saw her from across the room I knew there was something different about this one. After forcing a buddy of mine who knew Alexa from freshman year to introduce me, the rest was history! Well, okay, not exactly, but I did spend several more months “courting” her in similar non-luxurious settings like college bars, more frat parties and Panera bread dates. Apparently she was able to look past my collegiate dating strategies because here we are, more than 6 years later engaged and living in NYC with our adopted pup, Max.
How I Asked: The New York City skyline was the perfect backdrop for our unforgettable marriage proposal. The night started when I lead an unsuspecting Alexa to a private rooftop, thinking we were checking out a new trendy rooftop bar. When we stepped out on to the rooftop Alexa quickly realize this outing was not what she thought. A bottle of champagne and a bouquet of roses were displayed and waiting for the big moment. There on the rooftop as the sun went down over the city I proposed to Alexa, she said YES! We celebrated our engagement with a champagne toast basking in the panoramic views of the city.
