How We Met
Robert and I met through a friend of mine when I was still in high school. My best friend worked with him at a fast food restaurant. Over time she and I started to hang out with her work friends more and more and that’s when I met Robert. At first, we were just friends, but as time went on and we spent more time together I knew I wanted more than friends. We dated for a couple of years and then broke up and went our separate ways. 2 years past before we reconnected. Once we did, we both knew it was gonna be forever this time.
how they asked
In the months leading up to the proposal, Robert and I had constantly joked about how and when he would do it. (I think it was a ploy so that I would be more surprised.)
On March 3rd, we were getting ready for a pretty full day of events. We had to help set up for his grandfathers 90th birthday party which was that day, and then go to my friend’s wedding. As we were getting ready he started joking about proposing again and of course we joked and laughed and moved on.
We left the house to head over to his parents to grab some last minute things before the party and on the way, he found a bread tie in the car and made it into a ring and asked if I would marry him with just that ring? Of course, I said yes and slipped it on my finger. I wore that ring for about an hour.
While we were standing in the living room of his parents house, all alone, and ready to walk out the door, he walked over to me and hugged me and told me he wanted me to be his wife. I thought he was still just playing around. Until he grabbed my hands and said he was tired of waiting for the “perfect” moment. He just wanted to start spending his forever with me. He pulled out the ring and asked me to be his wife. I immediately started crying of course and told him he better not be joking anymore because it was certainly not funny anymore. He wasn’t joking!! He had finally asked and I sobbed and I said YES!!
