Robert and Amy
How We Met
On April 11, 2013, a couple buddies and I were getting ready for a night out. One of my friends was planning to meet up with a girl he’d known since middle school and some of her friends. When we got to the bar, and the girls walked up to us, it was love at first sight. I looked at my friend Alex, and said, “that’s the girl I’m going to marry.” He nudged me with a smirk on his face and said “that’s Amy”. I eagerly introduced myself, while still trying to play it cool so she’d be into me. I spent the whole night chasing her, literally, around a car, desperate for her attention and begging for a kiss. She couldn’t stand me. But, I must have grown on her, because over the course of the next few months we began a true friendship. On September 30, 2013 she invited me to meet up with her and a few friends to watch Monday Night Football. I was stoked! A girl who likes football- she was too good to be true! That night, we had our first kiss, and from that moment on we have inseparable.
how they asked
I’d know from the moment I first laid eyes on Amy, that she was the one. She was my reason for being on this earth. She was here to make me a better man. And I was here to love her, protect her, and care for her. I had been ring shopping for about two years. I finally purchased the ring of her dreams, and was trying to decide when to pop the question. We had a trip planned to Greece in June, and her Birthday was coming up in October. I asked Amy’s sister for her opinion, she said “just do it this weekend”. “Easter? What a weird time”, I thought. “It’s Perfect! She’ll never expect it!” The Monday before Easter, I drove to the church, I had her ring blessed by the Priest. I went to her parents house, asked for their blessing. Then, made a special trip to the cemetery, where her father is buried, and let him know I was sorry I didn’t have the chance to meet him, but hat I was going to take care of his little girl.
I drove home, just in time to act like I hadn’t done a thing all day. Fast forward to Easter morning. We drove to her parents house to help set up Easter eggs. Watched her nephews hunt for eggs, and had a nice family brunch. After we ate, Amy’s sister asked her to take her families photo by the gazebo their stepdad built. As Amy took their pictures, I ran inside to get the ring. She had no idea what was coming next. Per usual, I asked Amy’s sister if she’d take our picture too. Amy turned around, to face all of our family, smiling, with their cameras out… as she looked at me with such confusion, I dropped to one knee, and asked her to marry me. SHE SAID YES!!!
