How We Met
In seventh grade, Zach and I were seated alphabetically in our maths class leaving Zach to be seated behind me. Our interactions from then to ninth grade consisted mostly of Zach annoying me and me not being able to stand him. However, somehow the stars must have aligned in the summer before tenth grade. We became best friends spending most of the year on after-school snow cones and Taco Bell dates filled with never-ending conversations and beautiful, sweet memories. On July 21, 2013, we started dating after a fun-filled bowling night with friends and 3 months later, we promised to stay together with our first “I love you”. We continued supporting each other through college at UT Austin and through graduate school (Zach at Vanderbilt Law School in Nashville and me at USC in Los Angeles) on opposite ends of the country. We truly are the epitome of falling in love with your best friend and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
How They Asked
Zach had been spending the summer with me in Los Angeles for his law school internship. During the summer, he was supposed to have lunch with a partner and his colleagues that ended up getting canceled. A few weeks later, Zach had convinced me that it had been rescheduled to dinner and significant others were invited.
As we approached the restaurant, Zach handed me over blindfolds and I knew exactly what was about to happen. Zach had slyly planned the big proposal at my favorite overlook in the Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles. It was the exact spot that made me fall in love with Los Angeles and a place that made us both excited to finally start our lives together.
Little did I know, my family and best friends were in on it too, which made it that much more special. After the proposal, we met them at Fig at the Fairmont Santa Monica and had a dinner filled with love and laughter!
