how they asked
Being the planner that I am, Rex’s 40th birthday was approaching. I really wanted to do something special for him. That being said we both love wine and where else does one go? NAPA VALLEY! I planned every breakfast, every lunch, every dinner. I planned every activity every day to ensure we can make the most memorable 40th birthday for my sweet Rex. It was April 11th the weather was beautiful, each day was more eventful than the last with a few short days shy of his birthday we took and early morning balloon ride followed by a champagne brunch. After we toured the famous Sterling Vineyards with breath taking views and Rex by my side I knew that life couldn’t get any better than this.
Ironically my phone rang, and it was a lady calling in regards to a wine tour I had set up, she said apologetically “I’m sorry your schedule tour did not register from our computer we are having some technical issue- on our behalf we would like to send you to our sister vineyard- Beringer.” I thought immediately, wow, any where in Napa is sure to be amazing, this is not an issue! The only thing that kind of struck me as odd is after all the research I did I don’t recall reading about Beringer’s ‘sister winery’.
Beringer property is angelic, and historical in every which way. We did a tour of the caves of Beringer, and finished off with sampling some of the house wines. The coordinator approached us and told us that Beringer was offering us a private wine tasting, and to kindly follow her. Rex and I were making our way down the steps through the wooded path to the historical Hudson house. As we walked in I remember thinking the whole afternoon how much I appreciated the fact that there was live music on the terrace above the property just outside the wine caves. Suddenly from afar the music stopped, and I realized at the moment that this trip I had planned for Rex had just turned into the trip we got engaged…..
