How we met
We met the first day of freshman year orientation at Florida Southern College. We never exchanged numbers those first couple of days so we both kept going back to the events in hope of seeing each other. We became friends but I was determined to not start a relationship yet because I was focusing on myself and my relationship with Jesus. But Jo kept pursuing and I finally agreed to go on a date with him. The best part about our first date is that my roommate had to drive us because both of our cars were in the shop being fixed. After the first date, I knew I really liked Jo and wanted to commit to being in a relationship with him and from that day forward I knew I would marry and spend the rest of my life with him. We have now been together for over three years, going through so many challenges together such as long distance when I decided to study abroad in London.
how they asked
The day went just as average, it actually wasn’t the best day for me, my car had just broken and I was stressing out about what to do to fix it and how much it would cost. Jo ended up convincing me to go on a nice date that night, i.e. his excuse to get me dressed up. He had a friend of ours make up a photography project for her class and she asked me if I knew of any park around town that was more forestry than flowers. I knew of one called Peterson Park because that had become a spot for Jo and I. We would take picnics out there for anniversaries, valentines days, and just for fun. She picked me up and drove me out to the park where I was eventually met by Jo. I knew when I saw him what was coming and couldn’t stop smiling or holding back the tears.
He talked to me about our relationship and how central of a role God has played in our relationship by bringing us together and growing us closer to not only each other but Him as well. Jo then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes, knowing that I get to marry the man of my dreams.
