How We Met
Derrick and I met in class – we were actually lab partners! We spent the whole semester in class together, where we noticed we had a lot in common (like having lived in the northwest before). Once finals time came around, we finally made plans to meet up. Snow changed these plans up a little and our “first date” ended up consisting of going sledding on campus with some of our mutual friends. Ever since then, we have been inseparable!

Derrick had told me he wanted to have professional photos taken of us while I was visiting him in Vancouver, Washington. I was immediately suspicious, but then he told me to take care of all of the details: photographer, location, date, everything. I was convinced that he couldn’t have been proposing because I was the only one who knew the photographer’s contact information and he was putting it all in my hands (so I thought). We got to the location, and after walking around a bit, we went to check out the waterfall from a closer view. I was looking at the waterfall when he grabbed my hands. Thinking we were just posing for another photo, I didn’t think anything of it. Then I saw the nervous look in his eyes and his hands reach into his pocket. Exactly what he said to me was a blur, but the next thing I knew, he was down on one knee and putting the most beautiful ring on my finger! I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful proposal!
