How We Met
Andrew and I went to high school together however were in completely different social groups. I was a social butterfly, him a rebel skateboarder.
It wasn’t until years after that through a mutual friend (his sister, my friend) that we reconnected.
I was obsessed instantly and remember telling my bff before ever even going on a date that he would be my husband one day.
Through the next 5 years, many ups and downs. Moving in together. Adopting our first rescue dog and loosing our first rescue dog. Adopting our second rescue dog (all the way from China). Tropical vacations. So many road trips. Laughter and Tears, our special relationship was built.
About 2.5 years ago, I went into a local jewelry shop (without saying anything) and worked with the owner to design my dream ring. When it was perfect, I handed Andrew his business card and said “when you’re ready… here you go”
Over time, I Continued to tell all of my friends and family about my upcoming wedding plans even though we weren’t even engaged. I figure the more I talked about it the more it would make him want to do it… You know men. It wasn’t untcontinued to tell all of my friends and family about my upcoming wedding plans even though we weren’t even engaged. I figured the more I talked about it the more it would make him want to do it… You know men. I was always the little girl that couldn’t wait for her wedding day. I had found my guy but just needed that one missing piece.
How They Asked
It was Christmas Morning 2018 and I woke up at 5am (like usual) because I will never not be excited for Christmas.
Andrew was still sleeping so I had a nice morning with Dierks drinking coffee and watching The Grinch. As our morning rolled along, we opened up gifts one by one taking time to appreciate all the little things. Andrew opened a gift he had purchased for himself (something we generally do) and it was a mini tripod for his phone.
He then went on and on about how cool it was as I rolled my eyes.
In my head, all I could think was if he’s this excited about a tripod, wait until he sees the sweet coffee maker I bought him. Meanwhile, all this was just a distraction for me.
A little while later, Andrew set up his little tripod and said this next gift was a funny one and my mom wanted to see my reaction. He started to film and handed me 2 gifts.
I opened the first bag, a marker.
Puzzled… I moved onto the second box. As I unwrapped and opened there was a white mug. I picked it up and turned it around as Andrew got down on one knee.
Needless to say, it was everything I could have ever asked for.
We spent the rest of the day celebrating with both of our families and my best friend (who along with my mom, was the only one to know and keep the secret!)
