How We Met
Tim actually graduated from the same High School as I did, he just graduated 2 years ahead of me. Tim was known as the ‘Cancer Kid’ in high school and was also known as a big flirt so I wanted to steer clear. But we met during lunch when I was doing some work in a teacher’s classroom. He was a Senior & I was a Sophomore in high school. He met me once and started messaging me on Facebook, and we tried to go on dates but it never happened. It was New Year of 2011, and we found out we had mutual friends & were at the same Party. We went to a dollar theatre movie date to see the newest Footloose. I thought it was actually going to go somewhere, but little did I know that it wasn’t and he pushed me off to the side (in a text), and stayed down in Florida at college. 6 years later we met up at a local bar, and for a year and a half I gave him the cold shoulder. The night before Thanksgiving, 2017, we were both out at a local bar for a friend’s class reunion. And we’ve been together ever since!
How They Asked
We had just been together for one year, but since month 3 Tim had told me he was going to marry me. We were going to a Monster’s Hockey Game in Cleveland, Oh with our church Youth Group. Both me and Tim have a love for hockey, and it was one of our first dates. I could tell something was wrong because he was holding my hand, and he just seemed really anxious. My friend was home from college and she constantly had her phone out, and then I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. I had leaned forward for something in my purse, and hear my friend say behind me, “Just do it.” So Tim looked at me, “You know I love you right?
And you know I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” I shook my head yes to both questions. He then (in a very narrow space) got down on one knee. “Randi Michelle, will you marry me?” I obviously started balling my eyes out and said yes through the tears. Our section (my youth kids) started cheering, and there was a school band in front of us that also started playing.
