how we met
Four and half years ago, I had gone to visit my lovely friend, Anjali, on university campus. As we were walking down the hall, we ran into Rameez and his friend Irfan. Anjali knew Rameez and Irfan as they were both in the same program as her so she stopped to quickly say “hello” while Rameez and I awkwardly shared a smile. Little did I know at the time that this brief interaction would be the start of such an incredible relationship.
The next day, I got a call from Anjali letting me know that Rameez had expressed interest in getting to know me and asked if I wanted to meet him and see how things go. Right from when I first saw Rameez, I could tell there was something special about him, so I knew that passing up the opportunity to get to know him would be a big mistake. So, over the next week, Anjali and Irfan put their matchmaking skills to work and set up a group dinner where Rameez and I could get to know one another. We hit it off immediately and the rest is history!
how they asked
It all happened on February 13th, 2016. Rameez was visiting for the weekend and had planned a special Valentine’s Day brunch for us. A few days before his visit, he mentioned that he needed to stop at the university campus to pick up some documents from a colleague of his before our big brunch date on Saturday. I immediately agreed to join him, not once thinking that he had other plans in mind. So, on Saturday morning, we headed to campus and Rameez slowly led me towards a very familiar building. As we approached the building, I realized that this was the very place where Rameez and I had our first date back in 2012. Just as I had this thought, Rameez abruptly stopped, grabbed my hand, and confessed that there was no colleague to meet. He brought me here since this was where our love story first began.
He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, as you may have guessed, my response was “YES”! The perfect proposal in the perfect location, all topped off with the best engagement brunch to celebrate the beginning of the next chapter of our love story.
