how they asked: My now fiancé Cody and I have been together for 7 years. He was only 14 and I was 15 when we started dating. Last year Cody’s family invited me to go on a trip to the Grand Cayman Islands in June. We were all so excited and I was in charge of planning our trip. I found where we could swim with the Dolphins at Dolphin Discovery and seeing how Dolphins are both mine and Cody’s favorite animal, we HAD to do it! We got to Grand Cayman and had a great first two days.
On the third day, June 4th we were to swim with the Dolphins! We were all thrilled and could not wait. When we got there, Cody was very distant and kept going off to talk with his mom privately and I got a little frustrated at him but little did I know it was all because something amazing was about to happen.
We started the swim with the Dolphins and everyone got to do all sorts of things with them. I was the last one to do the dorsal pull and as the dolphin brought me back to the ledge, I noticed Cody had a dolphin toy ring in his hand. I was a little jealous, like “why does he get to play with the dolphin and I don’t?”
The instructor had me stand next to Cody as he threw the toy ring out. I watched as Al the dolphin swam back to us and brough the toy ring back to me.
The instructor told me to hand it back to Cody and that was when he opened it with my ring inside. Cody said, “Raigan , I’ve been with you for six years and I can’t imagine my life without you. Will you marry me?” I had my hands on my face and couldn’t help but cry. I think I mumbled out a yes and nodded my head.
Cody had called the company and planned the whole thing months before we left. To know that he put that much effort and wanted to make it so special for me made me love him even more. That was the most magical and romantic day of our lives. I will always remember each moment and am so glad we had the crew at Dolphin Discovery there to take photos. I can not wait to marry the man of my dreams.
