How We Met
Me and Jorge started “dating” in the 8th grade. Crazy right? We were friends at first and I would just tell him everything and we talk all the time. I mean we literally spent so many nights staying up all night long just talking about who knows what! I went to watch his basketball one night, which happened to be on his birthday. So afterwards we went out to eat to a few friends and then went back to my house when we were done. We were outside and he just kind of asked if I wanted to be his girlfriend, super casually. And that’s where our love story started. Even though it was his birthday I got the greatest I could have ever dreamed of, even if I didn’t know it at the time. And ever since 8th grade we have grown together and have helped each other through some tough times and fallen madly in love. It hasn’t been all rainbows and butterflies over the past 7 years but I know in my heart that God meant for Jorge to be my soulmate and best friend for life.

Jorge enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after high school so the last two and a half years we have been in a long distance relationship. He’s stationed in California while I’m going to college in Texas. We’ve only gotten to see each other maybe twice a year. He recently got back from a deployment in November and came home for leave in December for Christmas. I had been wanting to go to the riverwalk in San Antonio while they had all the lights up. It didn’t seem like it was going to workout but then last minute he said we’d be able to go. I was in the hotel getting ready because he said he made dinner reservations at 8:30. He kept rushing me to be ready by 7 which I thought was strange. So we got ready and left the hotel and I thought we were just going to walk around before dinner.
Well he stopped in one place and asked a guy to take our pictures but had secretly asked him to record. He then handed me a little gift bag and told me I could open it real quick. I pulled out a shirt that said “Feyoncé” and a huge smile spread across my face as I just said “Are you serious?!” He got down on a knee and asked me to marry him. I couldn’t even see the ring at first because my eyes filled with tears. (But it is literally my dream ring!!! He did so good!) I had been dreaming about this day for a while and he made it better than I could have ever imagined. He even had a photographer there to take pictures without me knowing! He is my dream come true and I can’t wait to spend forever loving him!!
