How We Met
It was May of 2012 in the Outer Banks, NC. I was a week away from graduating high school when a girlfriend and I went to a beach house to meet up with friends. We were having a great time getting to know everyone when a college student from Virginia walked in to join the fun. He immediately caught my eye as I whispered to my friend that we needed to introduce ourselves. Minutes later we were chatting about our lives and what the future had in store. Taylor was living in the OBX for the summer, waiting tables after his freshman year at Christopher Newport University.
I was preparing to head to East Carolina University in August to begin my college career. We spent the evening getting to know each other. The following morning I woke up knowing that I wanted to see Taylor again. We reconnected that afternoon which turned into a wonderful summer. We spent countless days in the sun, went on ice cream dates and stargazed on the beach. When August came around we weren’t ready to go our separate ways.
In the fall, Taylor returned to CNU and I went off to ECU. We spent the next four years traveling back and forth to spend the weekends together.
how they asked
I love everything about NYC and Taylor knows it! He planned a huge trip for us over New Years which included the help of my parents. We left from VA early on December 30th with a big itinerary. Taylor used his new GoPro to document every part of our adventure, which was the best idea he’s ever had.
Once we arrived, we visited multiple tourist attractions and ended up in Central Park (my all-time favorite place)!
Taylor set up his GoPro and found someone to take our picture just before getting down on one knee. In that instance, I got so excited and realized that day had automatically become the best day of my life. Taylor asked me to marry him and I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough! And we had it all on video. It was amazing.
After our picture-perfect walk through Central Park, we had a drink at the Plaza Hotel and finished the evening by strolling through Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas Tree.
We spent the remainder of the weekend in the city enjoying our engagement!
