Rachel and Sebastian
how they asked
Sebastian, my roommate Tracey and I had had this trip planned for over 6 months. I have always dreamed of going to Budapest, Tracey wanted to go to London and Sebastian wanted to see Amsterdam, so we found the cheapest tickets and booked our flights. As time got closer to our trip we started to plan more things and get more excited. I always wanted to visit the fisherman’s bastion. To me, it looked like a Disney castle. A few weeks before our trip Sebastian told me for our “late anniversary” celebration we would have lunch in the castle district.
So we picked our dressy clothes and packed them. As soon as we arrived in Budapest- a day late, because our flights got canceled due to weather, we arrived around 10 am and went straight to our hotel to change. We got ready and headed out. As soon as we arrived Sebastian started this very sentimental and sweet speech about how happy he is that we have been together so long and how excited he was that we were in Hungary, our 17th country we had visited together within the last year and a half.
I kept interrupting his speech because I was hungry and was “wondering what kind of snacks they had here”. Oops. Next thing I knew he was asking if I would stay with him forever and he was on one knee. I had absolutely no idea. That previous morning he told me he wanted to wait to get married for 3 years. I said YES and looked turned around to the cheering I was hearing – one of our best friends, his sister, his mom, and grandma were all there!!
My parents and brother had tickets to fly out and surprise me as well, however, unfortunately, their tickets got canceled due to bad weather. We FaceTimed them as soon as I put the ring on! It was the best surprise of my life and in the most dreamy castle district, I could’ve ever imagined.
Then the next morning Sebastian surprised me with a photo shoot at the bastion so we could continue to capture our special day. It was so magical and now I cannot wait to marry the man of my dreams.
